This question raises the issue of the problem of evil. It’s a problem with two parts: natural evil—the issue of pain and suffering; and moral evil—the wrong that we do to one another and our sins against God.
Philosophers and theologians have long grappled with this question. I have too.
There’s a whole area of study on this topic. It’s called theodicy—from the Greek theos (God) and dikē (justice). It’s an attempt justify God for why he permits what he permits.
The problem of evil is not just an intellectual question but an existential struggle. I’ll talk more about it in upcoming videos.
